How to do the Headlight Mod for a B15 sentra
Materials needed
1 Oven or heat gun
1 long screwdriver or small pry bar
1 can of clear or white plastic primer
1-2 cans of flat black paint
1 can of clear coat
2-3 tubes of SVT Black Silicone
2-3 tubes of Plastic welder
4 or so sheets of fine grit sandpaper
1 roll of masking tape
#10 star screwdriver bit
About 5-8 hours of time
1.Remove the 2 bolts on the top of the headlights and gently pull until the unit comes loose. Remove both headlights.
2.Put in oven for 2-3 mins on 350* or heat up little by little using a heat gun on Hi. Be careful not to burn the plastic.
3.Using the screwdriver or small pry bar slowly pry apart the black backing of the headlight and the clear cover. It will take some work and be prepared to get some blisters if using a pry bar.
4.Once apart use the #10 star screwdriver to remove the chrome reflector from the clear part of the headlight.
5.Lightly sand the reflector with the fine grit paper. It will appear to have a brush chrome look with swirl marks. Thats how you know you sanded it enough.
6.Spray 2 coats of primer and allow to dry completely between coats. Around 3-5 mins each.
7.Next apply 2-3 coats of the flat black paint to the reflector. Allow to dry about 7-10 between coats.
8.Apply 2 coats of clear coat for the finish touch. Allow to dry 5-7 mins between coats.
9.While allowing the paint to dry clean out the clear lens and dry it completely.
10.Reasemble the now black reflector into the clear housing.
11.Clean all areas to be glue very well and get set up in a position that you can apply the glue quickly to the whole housing because it sets quickly.
12.Apply the glue to the lip where the original glue was, make sure to hold the headlight together tightly for about 5 mins while the glue sets.
13.After 5 mins use the masking tape to tape the headlight together for around 30 mins while the glue cures all the way.
14.Take the Black Silicone and go around all the edges that you pried open. Let set for about an hour or until no longer tacky.
15.Repeat for other headlight.
16.Re-apply lights to the car.
Note: If any leaking occurs apply more silicone to the edges and it should stop leaking.
